Five ways to look at Hajj

Obligation: “And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka‘bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses”[Aal ‘Imraan 3:97]

Reward: “The performance of `Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous ones. And the reward for Hajj Mabrur (pilgrimage accepted by Allah) is nothing but Paradise.” (Al-Bukhari)

Rebirth: “Whoever performs hajj (solely for Allaah) and in the course of it abstains from sensual and sinful acts, he will return as pure as on the day his mother gave birth to him.” (Al-Bukhari) V.2, hadeeth #596

Boot camp: Patience, sacrifice, gratitude, ethics, morals, worship, and obedience are some of the (many) trainings we receive at Hajj.

Unity: At Hajj we witness the strength, the unifying force, the beauty, and the potential of the Muslim ummah.
